Real talk

July 30, 2008

there is not much to be said. this is what i need to channel on the daily.

“heron p. – July 29th, 2008

earlier in the week, i was sitting in union square with my friend Jason from parsons. union square is notorious for the freaks, weirdos, skate punks, street performers, etc.. its a melting pot where cultures collide. i’d say one of the best places for people watching in NYC. so we noticed some kid dressed in mostly bright neon colors, tight jeans, big sneakers, crazy hair cut, backpack and accessories. typical new age hipster hip hop rocker kid caught in the middle of adopting really old trends but trying to make up his own at the same time a.k.a. being confused. i guess what tecktonik is to france is what he is to new york. i started to tell Jason I had seen a similar type of kid in Soho one day on broadway, walking around with his buddies blasting music super loud on his boombox like radio raheem from do the right thing. i felt embarrassed for him. jason then said to me, “you know heron, you gotta be subtle to stand out these days”. ding ding ding! that was exactly it! it’s true and has been for the past year or two. it’s the reason why i stopped buying expensive flashy exclusive sneakers and started to wear inexpensive casual sneakers. later that night actually, i had dinner with my friend Josh for his birthday. we started to speak about one of his birthday presents his girl rachel got him. it was a little iced out pin for his shirts. just the size of a sunflower seed without the shell. basically really tiny. he called it “subtle bling”…. of course that quickly reminded me of the conversation i had with Jason earlier in union square. cool hunters take note.”

this is awesome. i will be getting in touch with him soon because i have plans to shadow him or something. i just want to take some notes from a person who gets it. check his blog here

That aint no fixie though.

July 27, 2008

So my really good friends are out of town at the moment, being mcfly high in L.A. Where i should be but things happen for a reason, and its all good. But anyways i have be given the task of finding shit to do, for about a week, until they are back and we hit kanye up August 1st in cincy. So yesterday, I got up and decided at 11 o clock in the morning, i wanted to go and bike all the way to downtown, and go on some sort of adventure. Basically one of the reasons i was inspired to do this is because i have taken a small interest in bikes, especially fixed gears, and i really want one because they are really dope. Also i had no gas so this is alternative fuel, that fuel being me. Go GREEN! because gas is a bitch on another level.

this is my hog. you gotta start from somewhere

i had never noticed this till i rode my bike. interesting the details you miss when your moving so fast.

My drive thru

So you think that just adding a couple stars to your ads and marketing campaign is going to instantly be a big payoff? Not at all, things could go way south, why do you ask? because as consumers we can see through the bullshit of someone just doing a commercial for the money and not really showing them true self’s in the ads, which does not make it genuine so why do i need the product. But here, as you will see below is it done very well. Converse teamed up with Pharrell, Santogold, and Julian Casablancas, to create a original song for there 100Th anniversary. That song is so awesome because its so them, its what those artist are. Its not some BS thrown together catchy song written by some lame suited man who knows nothing that’s hip. Converse asked them to be in the ad and the did there thing to show that product in the way the know how, and its GENUINE. So awesome i love this shit.

OK so there are two like music type things i have been feeling the past couple days. First Kid cudi, had a new mixtape like literally released the other day. I love this guys music so dope. On some tracks he has this singer rapper thing that I’m so feeling. its like good shit. You need to listen up because this guy is going to be making some big noise soon. Kid CuDi Mixtape

Also i was on hypebeast the other day doing my daily updates and such, and came across an amazing rocksmith video. Not only did it one make me want to get the clothes, but two i was like damn this track they are playing is so good. So i went and look up the guy his name Theophilus London, a guy out of brooklyn, and he is on some other shit. But i tell you what it is some phenomenal stuff. here is the rocksmith video. good clothes as well with the music. awesome stuff. i definitely will be trying to add that to my closet sometime soon. And also i got some music by Theophilus as well.

Jam-Mixtape, and here is some other music by him as well Here.

The music finds do not stop there no. I also was put on by my boy Taylor, to this awesome new sound. There is this new electro band type thing going around, the first group to hit it big is MGMT, there are the amazing with the high pitched falsetto voices over some awesome electronic like beats. This group Passion pit is amazing. The have this amazing soulful sound that i am a big fan of. You get some good vibes from it. Its like a majestic disco electro rock. that’s how i see it being.

Unfortunately i could not find any of there music on the web available for download. but hit there Myspace, and listen to sleepy head. Euphoric track.
