I was recently reading the latest issue of Interview magazine, and Came accross the BHL’s interview. I had never heard of the guy and even when going into reading the interview, was not exactly sure what i was going to get out of it. But man what a cool guy. He has some really interesting ideas, and is someone i am going to be looking into more. From what i read he is a very famous French Philosopher/journalist. He has made great contributions to the world through these outlets, and also has done much traveling because of it. but I digress, my main reason for even mentioning his name because i think he is somebody who has very similar ideas and ways of looking at the world to me. Actually me to him since he is older. I think this quote from the interview really sold me on his ideologies and comparing them to mine and what i think of smart people may also agree with.
“People always think that loyalty is Laudable. People are always saying that we must remain faithful to tradition, to our class, to our ideas. Of course not! That would be equivalent to zero brain activity. If you really want to think, to seek truth, to advance intellectually, you must turn your back on cliches, on preconceived ideas-even those belonging to your spiritual family. For an intellectual, his true duty is not to fidelity, but to infidelity”.
note: Populus means people in latin, at least thats what im told.
